Arkiv by Byggfabriken is a series of fittings with slender handles and knobs that blend tradition with contemporary design. Simple and friendly shapes, comfortable to grip, designed by Kauppi & Kauppi in 2024 as a contribution to modern building conservation and a design interpretation of the Byggfabriken brand, founded 26 years ago as a traditional hardware store. The shared love and passion for materials, details, and history laid the foundation for the collaboration and the design work on the new hardware series Arkiv.

The ambition with Arkiv was to present a hardware collection with an expression not obviously belonging to a certain decade or style era. A stripped-down design, with sleek dimensions, that can't quite be placed in time. Is the expression new and contemporary, or more traditional? It doesn't really matter, since Arkiv is meant to be a folksy and suitable in many types of dwellings and housings. Equally suitable in older homes that are preserved and cared for, as well as newly built modern houses and contemporary apartments.

Arkiv is intended to be a fitting collection that you want to hold onto daily, and glad to rest your eyes on for many years to come “, says Kauppi & Kauppi.

The hardware collection includes rear-mounted pull handles in three different lengths and two knobs, with or without base. The collection is performed in two versions: traditional golden brass or white metal nickel-plated brass. The brass is hot-pressed, post-sanded, and finally gently polished by craftsmen.
